Sunset in Frankfurt

To ensure your development doesn't block natural light to the surrounding area, a Daylight, Sunlight and Overshadowing Assessment will be needed to support your Planning Application

Our Services Include

  • Daylight Assessment: "Daylight" covers the ambient light a building receives during the day. If a building doesn't receive enough ambient light, there will be a higher reliance on electric lighting, increasing the buildings carbon footprint

  • Sunlight Assessment: "Sunlight" covers direct light from the sun. Reducing the hours of sunlight reaching a building will increase the necessity for other forms of heating such as boilers or electric heaters.

  • Overshadowing Assessment: "Overshadowing" covers the usability of outdoor space based on its access to sunlight. New developments can overshadow surrounding outdoor space, reducing its usability.
